About us

Pivotal Netball Academy was established to create opportunities for all young people to access high quality coaching, in an inspiring, nurturing and inclusive environment. Our culture promotes fun, develops skills and improves physical, social and emotional health in our young players and builds active habits from a young age.

The founders of Pivotal Netball Academy have been Physical Education teachers for a combined 60+ years and have a long history of coaching netball in schools and clubs to a high standard and are passionate about the chance for all children to experience high quality coaching. From this environment our young players build confidence in their performance, establish friendships with their teammates and connect them to the schools and clubs’ pathway.

Hayley Potter Co-founder & Director of North London
We established Pivotal Netball Academy with the ambition of creating more opportunities for all young people to access netball. As a qualified PE teacher for over 20 years I’ve enjoyed coaching children in the game and seeing them develop both their abilities and skillset, as well as active habits and friendships that last well into adulthood. Teamwork, health and fitness and mental determination are qualities that I have seen grow in young people, through good quality coaching. As a Level 2 Netball Coach and fully enhanced DBS checked to work with children I have successfully coached netball teams in Borough, County and National competitions, taking many children on both UK and International netball tours. My ethos has always been participation and access for all, whilst accessing performance pathways for advanced skill development.
Brenda Kennedy Co-founder & Director of North London
Having taught and coached netball over many years it has been an absolute pleasure to see young people having fun, making friends, getting fit and developing a love of the game. Pivotal Netball Academy provides the opportunity for more youngsters to access excellent coaching and thereby benefit from all that netball has to offer. As a qualified PE teacher with a wealth of netball experience I have coached and played at a club, of which I am now an honorary member. I have worked with young people of all ages and standards, from beginners to elite squad players.
Amy Stewart Director of East Yorkshire
I am a passionate advocate for netball, dedicated to growing the game at both grassroots and performance levels. In 2025, I was honoured to receive the Pioneer of the Year award for Yorkshire and was subsequently shortlisted at a national level, recognising my commitment to developing opportunities within the sport. As the founder of West Hull Netball Club, I have established a thriving club with three teams competing in county leagues, creating a supportive and ambitious environment for players of all abilities. Alongside this, I have led and supported Back2Netball sessions within the community, helping individuals return to the game in a welcoming space focused on social connection, fitness, and enjoyment. My perspective on netball is shaped by my experience across multiple roles; as a player, a qualified umpire, and a Level 2 netball coach. This well-rounded understanding allows me to support participants in all aspects of their development. My ethos is centred on participation and accessibility for all, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to be involved in netball, while also creating clear performance pathways for those who wish to progress and develop advanced skills.
